Fun Flock Powder DIY Card

Fun Flock Powder DIY Card
If you thought glitter was pretty awesome, wait until you meet fun flock powder. Tiny bits of furry fluff that you sprinkle on just like glitter, except it leaves behind  a delightfully fuzzy texture!

I always handmake peoples Birthday and Christmas cards but ~I have never done a card DIY on the blog! Not sure how this hasn't happened. Anyway, I recently discovered flocking powder or fun flock (just be careful how you say that one...) and made a ruby wedding anniversary card for my parents with it. I was so in love with the stuff that I just had to make a tutorial on it.

You will need:
-blank greetings card
-fun flock
-pencil
-print-out of the free gem pattern in either JPEG or PDF
-Anitas 3D gloss or similar.

How to:
1.Place the gem pattern print-out (click here for JPEG or here for a PDF) over the front of your card, (I have cut it down a bit so I can see better where I am placing it!) with a piece of carbon copy paper in between. If you don't have any carbon paper, scribble over the back of the print-out with a soft pencil. Draw over the shape to transfer the pattern to the card.

2. Check that the pattern has transferred  and don't worry if the lines area bit wobbly- we are going to be covering this up anyway!

3.Have a quick practice at drawing over the transferred line with as fine and even line of the 3D gloss as you can! You can use the pattern or transfer it to a piece of scrap paper.

4.Once you are happy, start tracing over your outline with the gloss. This stuff takes ages to dry, so no need to rush! Take the pot of fun flock and sprinkle a genourous amount over the gloss.

5. Leave for a couple of minutes, then gently tap off the excess. Resist the urge to blow the loose bits of flock off until its is dry, which will probably take a few hours, depending on the temperature where you are.

You can do this technique with regular glitter (or they even make glittery flock, best of both worlds!) but flock gives a really different look, and its more tactile.
